Why Choose Ric?

Life doesn’t always go to plan.
In 2018, my life changed forever. The unimaginable became my reality when my son’s mum died hours after childbirth, leaving me to navigate overwhelming grief while becoming a solo parent from the very first day of my son’s life.
There was no roadmap. No manual. No way around the pain.
I had a choice.
I could allow my circumstances to define me, or I could allow them to transform me.
I chose transformation.

I Didn’t Just Survive – I Rebuilt

Healing wasn’t about pretending everything was okay. It was about facing the hardest moments head-on.
Over the years, I committed myself to understanding grief, trauma, resilience, mindset and personal growth. I sought knowledge, challenged my own beliefs, accepted what I couldn’t change, learned to forgive, prioritised my physical and mental wellbeing, and slowly rebuilt my life from the inside out.
Growth wasn’t an event.
It became a daily habit.

The Principles That Changed My Life

The journey wasn’t built on motivation alone. It was built on consistent actions.
Some of the principles that helped me transform my life include:
Radical acceptance of what I couldn’t control.
• Taking complete ownership of my future.
• Prioritising physical and mental health.
• Building daily habits instead of relying on motivation.
• Learning to embrace discomfort because that’s where growth happens.
• Forgiveness—not because others deserved it, but because I deserved peace.
• Focusing on progress rather than perfection.
• Choosing purpose over pain.
These principles continue to shape every area of my life today.

Real Experience. Real Perspective.

Everything I share comes from lived experience.
I’m not speaking from theory.
I’m speaking from years of rebuilding a life after unimaginable loss, raising my son as a solo parent, creating successful businesses, becoming a published author, hosting the Real With Ric podcast, and continuing to invest in my own personal development every single day.
I’ve experienced grief.
I’ve experienced trauma.
I’ve experienced fear, loneliness and uncertainty.
I’ve also experienced what is possible when someone commits to growth.

How I Can Add Value

Whether I’m speaking on stage, appearing on a podcast, working with organisations or sharing my story, my aim is always the same:
To help people believe that change is possible.
I help audiences:
Build resilience during life’s toughest challenges.
• Develop a stronger mindset.
• Learn practical tools for overcoming adversity.
• Improve mental wellbeing through daily habits.
• Turn setbacks into opportunities for growth.
• Discover purpose after loss or major life change.
• Take ownership of the next chapter of their lives.
My talks are authentic, practical and relatable. People don’t just hear my story—they leave with tools they can apply to their own lives.

Why People Connect With My Story

Because it’s real.
I don’t claim to have all the answers.
I simply share what worked for me, what didn’t, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.
My mission isn’t to inspire people for an hour.
It’s to give them hope that lasting change is possible and practical steps they can take to begin that journey themselves.

My Mission

If one conversation, one keynote, one podcast episode or one book helps someone choose hope over hopelessness, growth over staying stuck, or purpose over pain, then every step of my journey has been worthwhile.
Because I truly believe…
Nothing changes if nothing changes.
And when we choose to change ourselves, we can change our lives.
If my story can help someone rewrite theirs, then that’s exactly where I’m meant to be.
