RIC HART
My Story
life as a widowed parent
When tragedy struck…
Ric Hart lost his wife Jade in July 2018 just hours after she gave birth to their son Hugo. Jade was only 33 and her death followed serious medical complications pre and post birth leading to negligence by the hospital in 2020.
Ric was suddenly left as a solo parent from day one with their only son, and first child, dealing with overwhelming deep grief and trauma.

I lost everything – my soul mate, wife, best friend, lover, my career, a real family, the list goes on…
Ric’s career prior to Jade’s death was as an insurance broker, selling health and life insurance. After Jade died Ric had the world on his shoulders, alongside bringing up their son alone.
Life Insurance is a must in life, and everyone should have a policy 100%. It’s not just about covering the mortgage debt, your bricks and mortar, financial security goes way beyond this, meaning people should be taking out higher levels of cover, supporting themselves going forward.
Ric’s life cover policy supported his journey financially, which meant he could focus on massive recovery and being a solo full time parent.
Turning Grief into Positive Focus and Purpose
Instead of giving up, Ric focused on looking after his son daily, feeding Hugo, cleaning him and making sure he was doing well as a baby.
Ric was running on 0% energy, but turned to step into a completely new area of overdrive and survival mode. Many charity events running 10Ks, half marathons and the Yorkshire Marathon were achieved in memory of Jade.
He began writing during 2020 during the Covid 19 lockdown, sharing his life with Jade, which became his therapy and later down the line became his first adult book published as an autobiography about their lives together.
Ric also created the “Hugo & Daddy’s” collection of childrens books, 5 in total, aiming to help kids understand loss, and create an open approach to loss through art, fun, adventure and inspiration.
In 2023 he wrote and published his final book “Growth Through Grief”, ending his grief writing, which shares 50 months of his journey in a personal journal format, from the point of loss, all the way up to when Hugo started school.
He also launched his podcast “Real With Ric” talking about his journey through deep grief, navigating life, change, creativity, growth, and navigating people.
Writing and talking out sharing his feelings became a way to leave a legacy alongside a self healing journey
Charity and Awareness
Ric is a non-profit book author – the proceeds of his book sales get passed to charity. This formed part of his approach after loss, chasing big goals but also giving back in a beautiful way supporting children who have lost loved ones and parents.
Ric completed a 600 mile charity cycle in memory of his wife featuring on the BBC for his cause and story.
Ric has raised thousands of pounds over the years for charity and is still active promoting his books and journey.
Journey to Acceptance and Forgiveness
Ric embarked on a new healing journey after many struggles even 3-4 years after his loss. He discovered Contrast Therapy.
Iced water and sauna heat gave Ric an opportunity to grow even more mentally and physically.
Ric has set up a business called Hart Health, offering contrast therapy sessions for individuals and couples.
This alternative therapy method has build more resilience and strength into Ric’s life being a solo parent and all the challenges of being a 24/7 dad.

What Drives Me
My Mission
My mission is to be a representation of an idea not some icon. The idea that we can all take small steps to achieve our own success through whatever adversity we face. Adversity can deliver what feels like a long journey, but this is where true growth lies. I want to inspire people to believe in themselves, stand tall and share their vision with the world.
